Our Story
Today, Milkman’s Daughter is a private, mobile bartending and mixology service based in Indianapolis. But this isn’t how it started.
Milkman’s Daughter was founded in 2020, at a moment when the bar and restaurant industry came to a sudden halt. Founder Deon Haskins was bartending her way through graduate school while completing a required, unpaid internship when COVID-19 shut everything down.
As Deon often says, “I don’t idle well.” Faced with uncertainty and bills to pay, she turned to what she knew best — hospitality, creativity, and craft.
Inspired by the nostalgia of the milkman delivering essentials door to door, Deon created Milkman’s Daughter: delivering classic and craft cocktails straight to people’s homes while they quarantined. Friends, family, and the broader community quickly rallied around the idea. Word of mouth spread as people sought comfort, connection, and a well-made cocktail during an isolating time.
With over 12 years of experience working in some of downtown Indianapolis’ most respected bars, Deon brought credibility and intention to every pour. She also devised the now-iconic Quarantini, which quickly became a best-seller. While the early days of Milkman’s Daughter existed in a legal gray area, the business ignited a creative, entrepreneurial spirit that made its future impossible to ignore.
In 2022, Milkman’s Daughter officially evolved into a licensed, private mobile bartending service. Deon and her partner joined forces to build the business intentionally — transforming a moment of necessity into a long-term vision rooted in elevated service and meaningful experience.
What began as a solution became a vision: a way to bring the cocktail bar — and the bartenders behind it — directly to you.
Today, Milkman’s Daughter proudly serves events throughout Indianapolis and beyond, continuing to build the kind of hospitality business they always wished existed — one rooted in craft, care, and connection.

Milkman’s Daughter (MD) is a private, mobile bartending and mixology service based in Indianapolis. We handcraft alcoholic and zero-proof cocktails specially curated for various events.
Milkman’s Daughter provides our customers with a top-notch mixology experience, renowned expertise, and professional customer service.
We are a Black and Brown, queer women-owned company that values community, creativity, and expression while always fostering a safe and inclusive space.

We provide our bartending services for a wide assortment of occasions, including intimate dinners, corporate gatherings, weddings, engagement parties, birthdays, bach parties, bridal and baby showers, and many other soirées!

Between the two owners of Milkman’s Daughter, they have a combined two decades worth of experience in the hospitality and service industry. They have worked in arguably the finest dining and lounge establishments in downtown Indianapolis and pride themselves on keeping up with industry trends as frequent travelers and readers.
Our founder and lead mixologist, Deon Haskins, has bartended in the Circle City’s top-rated bars across a wide variety of disciplines. Deon has received several certifications, including from Consejo Regulador del Tequila, for Professionalization in Tequila Culture. She has successfully competed in and judged four cocktail competitions over the years.
Deon and Shakkira have toured some of the best speakeasies and cocktail programs from cities like Paris, London, and Edinburgh, to taking Tequila and Mezcal classes in Mexico.
Milkman’s Daughter creates all of their syrups from scratch, maintains impeccable situational awareness, and shares their knowledgeable expertise with anyone interested.

We only service private events on private property. We do not service public events.
Milkman's Daughter is a private mobile bartending service and does not provide or purchase alcohol for any client events. This includes all types of liquor—spirits, beer, wine, and any other alcoholic beverages. All alcohol served at events must be procured directly by the client. Milkman's Daughter will not, under any circumstances, supply or acquire alcoholic beverages on behalf of clients.
Milkman's Daughter does not identify as a catering company. Rather, it focuses on delivering exceptional service and skilled labor to its clients. Thus, MD does not carry the three-tier catering license that is required for 99% of event venues in Indy.
